Privacy Policy

The present privacy policy is given you pursuant to art.13 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 with regards to your personal data.

Your personal data shall be processed in accordance with the principles of lawfulness, fairness, and transparency, without jeopardy to your privacy and your rights. Data processing can take place manually or electronically, including the use of automated or digital instruments. It may include any operation carried out with or without the support of automated processes, such as the collection, registration, organization, structuring, preservation, processing, selection, blocking, adaptation or modification, extraction, consultation, use, communication through transmission, dissemination or any otherwise making available, comparison or interconnection, limitation, cancellation, or destruction.

Who is the Data Controller?

The Data Controller, i.e. the body that determines how and why your data are processed, is DASSI – Data Archive for Social Sciences in Italy, in the person of the National Coordinator Prof. Sonia Stefanizzi (hereafter: Data Controller). The Data Controller can be contacted by writing to the email address info@dassi-archive.it.

What is the purpose of the processing of your data?

Your personal data will be processed for the following purposes:

  • filling in forms to request information;
  • subscription to newsletters or other forms of communication designed to inform or promote the activities of DASSI;
  • registration for events organised by DASSI;
  • registration with the distribution platform, where applicable, to access research data made available by DASSI;
  • to send communications relating to the services provided by DASSI (confirmation of download of requested data, registration for seminars, conferences, workshops or other activities promoted by DASSI);
  • to prepare annual reports on the characteristics of users who have downloaded data, in aggregate form.

The processing of the personal data requested from the data subject shall take place pursuant to art. 6(1) of EU Regulation 2016/679, for the purposes indicated above.

Who can we communicate your data to?

In all of the above-mentioned cases, your personal data are processed by the Data Controller and the persons authorised by the Data Controller to process them in relation to their functions and responsibilities within DASSI.

Do you are required to provide us with your data?

For the purposes indicated, the provision of your personal data is mandatory and you must formally express your consent to their processing. In the event of refusal, DASSI will not be able to carry out the activities and provide the services requested.

How long will your data be stored?

Your personal data processed for the above-mentioned purposes, held in the Data Controller’s databases, will be stored indefinitely.

What are your rights and how do you exercise them?

You have the following rights:

  • to access your personal data;
  • to obtain the rectification or erasure of the data or the restriction of their processing;
  • if the data are in electronic form, to request the portability of the data;
  • to object to processing;
  • to make a complaint to the supervisory authority (Data Protection Authority).

You may exercise your rights by contacting the Data Controller, who is obliged to reply within 30 days from the date of receipt of your request. This period may be extended to 90 days if the request is particularly complex.

If you consider that the processing of your personal data does not comply with the applicable provisions, or if the response to a request by which you have exercised one or more of the rights provided for in Articles 15-22 of the GDPR is not received within the prescribed time limit or is unsatisfactory, you may refer the matter to the judicial authorities or to the Data Protection Authority.

Will you be subject to automated decision making?

The Data Controller does not use your data in automated decision making processes.

Is your data secure?

Your data are processed lawfully and fairly, and appropriate security measures will be taken to prevent unauthorised access, disclosure, modification or destruction of the data.
